Rooster Booster supportOn these pages you will find information that will help you maintain your roosterbooster. There is a Question and Answer section with questions that have been asked and possible solutions. Remember to change your back-up battery
The back-up battery fitted in all rooster boosters to keep the timer running when the main battery is being changed/charged will need changing once a year under normal conditions. If the internal battery becomes flat the Rooster Booster will re-set itself each time the main battery is disconnected, this will make the Rooster Booster appear as though it is operating incorrectly.
Resetting your Rooster BoosterOn rare occasions the timer unit may stop working and need to be reset. To reset the timer do the following: Unplug the sensor from the box. Wait for two minutes and then in this order.
Doing this should reset the timer and start the unit running as it did when you first installed it. Refer to the installation guide. The red LED in between the sensor and the push button should start to flash. (The unit always starts as though it is 5-hours from daylight whatever the time of day.) If you push in the button on the side of the box and then release it the red LED should flash 5 times. If the unit does not start working try checking the inline fuse, fuse connections and the battery clips
Checking the SensorIf the unit starts working cover the sensor to see if the lamps come on, make sure it is well covered, as it will detect light through the end of your finger in bright conditions. If the lamps do come on the sensor would seem to be working ok but repeat this several times to make sure. If the lamps do not come on unplug the sensor from the box, this should make the lamps come on. If they do then the sensor is probably faulty.
Checking the Inline Fuse and ConnectionsThe inline fuse on the Rooster Booster can some times cause problems because the contacts get dirty or corrode. It only needs a small amount of corrosion or dirt to break the contact.
If your battery clip looks like this it is not good!
Corrosion around the battery clip and inside of the fuse holder next to the battery clip has been the only problem on two units that were returned not working.
